Jeep Patriot Whining Noise When Acceleratingsocial Post Detail - I thought it was maybe the cvt, but some people are saying it’s my power steering pump, it definitely. When my patriot is in gear and accelerating at higher speeds i get this whirring sound. Doesn’t happen when i’m in neutral or take my foot off the gas. I feel like it’s gotten louder over the last. With just about 127k km on my manual tranny i started getting a very noticeable whine in every gear when accelerating. I also started hearing a very slight rattle when the clutch was engaged indicating the throw out bearing was on it's way out. Upon accelerating and slowing, there is a whining noise, somewhat similar to a sewing machine that increases upon accel, and decreases upon decel. Nothing when in park. I have 2 issues on my 2007 jeep patriot 2. 4. 1 st issue is patriot makes whining noise when accelerating at idle and driving took off the serpentine belt and changed trans fluid and 2. I’ve had a loud whining noise for awhile now, and replaced the power steering pump today. Some of the higher pitch noise is gone but it still has a loud sound when idle and accelerating. It doesn’t quite sound like an engine knock and two mechanics have struggled to figure it out. Sound only happens on acceleration, not on idle. Sound like a “ratatata” on top of the normal.
